Brookville Residence Featured Project

When the idea of a major home renovation is brought up, most people think of major additions. This is not always necessary, as you can see in this Brookville renovation. We took the space and enhanced it according to the customer’s wishes, by redefining their home to fit their level of comfort and feeling of what a home should be. By raising ceilings, creating a cathedral ceiling, raising part of a roof, adding custom millwork and cabinetry, and opening walls, we created a visual and mental flow of energy that gives the homeowner the feeling of freedom, openness, and warmth that they were looking for.

In the kitchen, we opened the ceiling, giving the perception of a much larger room. You have to be careful when extending the ceiling height. It can become too lofty, giving you a feeling of uneasiness or discomfort. In this project, custom cabinetry was designed to help balance the space that was created. A high pantry was built in the breakfast area, taking advantage of the extra storage space in addition to giving the room a more “grounded” feeling..

In the family room, wood soffits and crown moulding were created to match the custom wet bar and entertainment unit that was built, again creating an energetic flow with the rest of the house and keeping the room in balance. By raising the ceiling in the master bath and master closet area, we were able to design beautiful, tall cabinetry to enhance the space and give the homeowner the extra storage she wanted.
